The Medicare Extension plan (OME) option is available only to GIC members who are enrolled in Medicare Part A and Part B. It supplements your Medicare coverage by providing benefits for covered services that are not paid by Medicare. This includes the Medicare Part A inpatient hospital deductible and Part B deductible and coinsurance. To enroll in the plan, you must be eligible for both Medicare Part A and Part B.
The Medicare Extension plan is available with or without CIC (comprehensive insurance coverage). Coverage without CIC provides certain benefits at 80%, while CIC coverage increases the benefits for most covered services to 100%. The same services are covered, regardless of whether you have CIC. However, you could be subject to significant medical bills if you do not select CIC.
With both CIC and non-CIC coverage, you can use any doctor and any hospital, anywhere in the world. And you never need a referral to see a specialist.
